Veryfi sells AI that turns unstructured documents — receipts, invoices, checks, IDs, insurance cards — into structured data in seconds. Their customers include PepsiCo, Brex, Navan, Rippling, Rho, Mercury, and Toast. Each document type maps to a different buyer in a different vertical, so generic outbound never landed: a check capture pitch lands at a bank, but the same email sent to a pet insurer feels off.
On the scale side, Veryfi's 5-person sales team was spread across four territories (NA enterprise, NA mid-market, Brazil, Europe/LATAM) but outbound was bottlenecked through a single outsourced SDR. Writing one custom email took 5-10 minutes, and inbound volume swallowed the rest of the day. AEs wanted to prospect, but the manual lift made it impossible to run more than a trickle.
On the quality side, the bar was high and rising. One document type per email — switching mid-message between receipts and invoices killed enterprise replies. Customer references had to match the prospect's industry and use case (Brex for expense, Lemonade for claims, Toast for merchant onboarding), not the closest logo on hand. Brazil and LATAM needed Portuguese and Spanish in a local register, not translated English.
